Putin’s army in disarray after North Koreans turn their guns on Russian soldiers | World | News

It was reported that North Korean soldiers opened fire on Russian military vehicles in the Kursk region near the Ukrainian border, resulting in another friendly fire fiasco. Pyongyang is believed to have sent around 15,000 troops to support Putin’s army in the western region.
This follows an agreement signed last June between Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, in which both countries promised mutual military assistance in the event of an invasion. At the time, Kim hailed the agreement as the “strongest agreement ever”, then reaffirmed his support in September by offering the Kremlin “unconditional support” for the war in Ukraine. North Korea also supplied the Russian military with missiles, long-range weapons and thousands of artillery shells.
In return, Pyongyang is thought to receive food, money and technical assistance as it works to modernize its military.
But last year, several friendly fire incidents involving Kim’s troops were reported, some of which resulted in fatalities.
The latest incident is said to have occurred in the past few days when North Korean soldiers opened fire on a Russian military convoy.
There has been no official confirmation yet of the incident, which was first reported by pro-Russian military bloggers. Bloggers claim that clashes between Kim and Putin’s soldiers are becoming more frequent.
Kim’s soldiers are even accused of shooting Russians who tried to photograph them with their cell phones.
North Koreans are said to suspect anyone who takes photographs of being a spy.
A deadly shooting incident in January resulted in three North Koreans killing five Russian soldiers.
The shootings led to a massive manhunt in which North Korean traitors were described as “armed and dangerous.”
Posters were distributed in the Kursk region warning people to be careful and not to approach suspects.
“On January 13, 2025, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe village of Bolshoi Soldatskoye in the Kursk region, three North Korean soldiers killed five soldiers from Sevastopol of the 810th Separate Marine Brigade with a military unit of 13140,” the posters read. it said.
“Criminals are armed and dangerous… If they are found, comply with personal security measures and notify the Kursk Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.”
