An Afghan national has admitted raping a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton.

Ahmad Mulakhil pleaded guilty to raping a child under 13 at Warwick Crown Court. He had previously denied the accusation.

Mulakhil, 23 and of no fixed abode, also denied kidnapping a child, raping a child under 13 three times and sexually assaulting a child under 13 twice.

He appeared alongside co-accused Mohammad Kabir, 23, who is also of no fixed abode and denied attempting to take a child, aiding and abetting the rape of a child under 13 and deliberately strangling the girl. They will appear in court on January 26.

The defendants, who Warwickshire Police previously confirmed were Afghan nationals, were assisted by interpreters at the hearing before Judge Kristina Montgomery KC.

The crimes are said to have been committed on July 22.

While Mr. Kabir only spoke to confirm his name, when Mulakhil was retried for a rape charge, he confirmed his name and confessed his crime.

Addressing the defendants, Judge Montgomery said: “You will both appear in court on December 12.

“Further instructions will be given on this occasion and the complainant witness in the case will also be present for cross-examination.

“Both of you should consider your positions carefully before this happens.

“You are both under arrest.”
