Employee Duped Of £2.47 Lakh In Fake Courier Deal

Hyderabad: A 44-year-old private employee from Bowrampet lost ₹2.47 lakh to fraudsters who promised him fake delivery center partnerships. The victim lodged a complaint with the Cyberabad cybercrime police on February 18.
Authorities said the victim received an email offering a courier partnership with a multinational firm. The deal price was stated at £1,50,000, including a £17,700 domain lock fee, £28,948 security deposit, £37,687 settlement fee, £20,665 training fee and £45,000 installation fee.
He stated that a person named Prasad, who claimed to be from Ghatkesar, visited his house on February 13 and collected his signature on the agreement documents and took copies of his PAN card and address document.
According to the agreement and subsequent emails, the victim transferred £1,50,000 online. He claimed that others who identified themselves as Mohan Raj, Abhiram and Vamshi then contacted him via IVR calls and demanded an additional £45,000 towards MoU costs and £49,999 as a no-objection fee. He transferred the amounts via UPI on February 17.
After paying a total of £2,47,498, he received another email demanding £39,499 for “e-way” fees. Realizing that it was a fraud, the person contacted the police. A case has been registered and further investigation is on.
