Trump Invites India To ‘Gaza Peace Board’: What Is $1 Billion ‘Fee’ Criteria? | India News

Sources confirmed that President Donald Trump has invited India to join the Gaza Peace Council. This coincides with the formalization of the second phase of the 20-Point Gaza Peace Plan.
On Friday, the White House released the names of the members, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, envoy Steve Witkoff, World Bank president Ajay Banga, Jared Kushner and others, including Apollo CEO Marc Rowan and NSA Deputy Robert Gabriel.
Board member Nickolay Mladenov will serve as the High Representative for Gaza and will bridge the gap between the Board and the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG). At the center of the second phase, NCAG will be led by technocrat Ali Sha’ath to restore services, rebuild institutions, stabilize life, and build a self-sustaining polity.
Providing detailed information about the roles and responsibilities of the participants in the initiative, the White House said, “Board members will oversee defined portfolios that are absolutely critical to the stability and long-term success of Gaza.” he said.

“While serving as Chairman of the Peace Board, Trump appointed Aryeh Lightstone and Josh Gruenbaum as senior advisors, charged with leading day-to-day strategy and operations and translating the Board’s authority and diplomatic priorities into disciplined implementation.”
Calling the NCAG a key component of the second phase, the White House said it is a vital step forward in implementing Phase Two of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, a 20-point roadmap for lasting peace, stability, reconstruction and prosperity in the region.
Ali Sha’ath, a respected technocrat, will lead NCAG in restoring essential public services, rebuilding civilian institutions, stabilizing daily life in Gaza and laying the foundations for sustainable long-term governance, the White House said.
The White House statement detailed security measures as well as governance and reconstruction efforts to ensure stability. Major General Jasper Jeffers was appointed Commander of the International Stabilization Force (ISF) to ensure security, maintain peace, promote a terrorism-free zone, lead operations, advance demilitarization, and facilitate the safe distribution of humanitarian aid and reconstruction materials.
Blair, Kushner, Witkoff, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, members of the Gaza Executive Board, including Qatari Ali Al Thawadi, and other names were present in the announcement.
What is the $1 Billion Fee and what does it mean for India?
The Gaza Peace Board, chaired by US President Trump, will first address the Gaza conflict and then cover other global disputes, according to a Reuters report citing the US letter and draft.
India’s admission will secure a standard three-year term along with other members. Reports indicate that in order to renew permanent membership, countries would each have to pay $1 billion to fund the board’s operations.
Admission, and the same standard three-year period as other invited countries, allows New Delhi to participate in critical decisions on Gaza’s stability, demilitarization, aid distribution and economic revival. This interim seat provides a diplomatic advantage by aligning New Delhi with US-led efforts as India-US ties change after Trump’s re-election in 2025 and India’s mediating role in the Middle East increases.
The fee structure reflects elite international frameworks such as UN Security Council financing models or G20 contributions, ensuring that only determined forces pursue long-term participation.
