Delhi government withdraws regulations on swimming pools, hotels and other commercial activities

According to the notification given by the Ministry of Interior, the movement follows an order by Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena dated June 19, 2025.
The Lieutenant Governor, who used the powers in accordance with the chapter 4 of the 1978 Delhi Police Law, withdrew the authority in the 28 (1) section of the same law to regulate these commercial activities.
Order affects the regulations that have been in force for decades, including those established for swimming pools for swimming pools, including 2023 management hotels, houses and other entertainment organizations.
Following the direction of the governor of the lieutenant, police commissioner Sanjay Arara issued an official notification that has now removed the seven arrangement sets that are currently accepted as invalid as of the export date.
At the beginning of June 23, Delhi Prime Minister Rekha Gupta held a press conference and announced that the police now survived the responsibility of licensing to enterprises and that power would have more time to focus on basic tasks such as crime control, women’s safety and public security. Gupta, called a “historic day” for Delhi, said that this great reform would allow the police to devote their energy and resources to real policing. Hotels, motels, guest houses, restaurants, swimming pools, auditoriums, discotheques, video game halls and amusement parks, such as the Delhi police to operate any objection certificate (NOC) announced that it will not have to take.
The power of giving such licenses will now be heard with local organs such as Delhi Municipality Company (MCD), the New Delhi Municipality Council (NDMC) or Delhi Cantone.
