Domestic abuse victims advised how to opt out of emergency alert drill

According to charity institutions, the victims of domestic abuse may be at risk if the immediate emergency warning exercise sends a warning to their secret devices.

On Sunday, September 7 at 15:00, the mobile phones in 4G and 5G networks will tremble, spread up to 10 seconds and display a message that confirms that it is a drill.

However, there is concern that the sound can reveal secret phones of victims of domestic abuse, and the groups advise them how to get out of the warning.

IPhone users should go to settings to disable, seek “emergency warnings ve and close violent and emergency warnings.

Android users can do the same by calling “emergency warnings ve in the settings and closing violent and emergency warnings.

In the meantime, the theater goers will be recommended to close their phones and the drivers are asked to not be distracted if they were behind the steering wheel when the warning occurs.

Emma Pickering from the charity shelter said: “During the first presentation of the government’s emergency warning system, the shelter expressed his concerns about how his warnings could indirectly affect the survivors with secret devices.

“We must be open – abuse is always a choice of a perpetrator and technology itself is not responsible.

“When used correctly and as intended, we know that technology can make great improvements in our lives and having a secret device that can be used to access support without fear of monitoring can offer a life line for survivors.

“However, in the hands of an abuse perpetrator, technology is often becoming another tool for abuse and arming with destructive effects.”

The spokesman for the woman help Sile said: “If these warnings are hiding devices from the perpetrators, they may risk victims of domestic abuse.

“Survivors can hide the devices because they use them to get support and receive or use it to look for a job to increase their financial independence.”

London Association Theater (SOLT) and the UK Theater, members were given information about the warning.

“Theaters update their pre -show announcements to remind the audience to close the phones completely and help to minimize disruption.

“The theater is a unique live experience where there may be unexpectedly – but when surprises come from the stage, it is always the best.”

AA suggested that the drivers are familiar with the sound and vibration of themselves and not to interact with the message until they stopped in a safe place by closing the engine.

AA President Edmund King said: uz We support the test of the emergency warnings system, an important tool that the government uses to keep people safe in a crisis.

“A day, the drivers should only stay calm and focus on the road. As always, check your phone only when you park the engine closed safely.”

RAC ROAD Security Spokesman Rod Dennis said: “Anyone who uses Sunday afternoon should be ready for an emergency warning test at 15:00, so we encourage people to share the message with everyone they know.

“High -siren -like sound to spread by millions of phones is of course designed to attract everyone’s attention, but important drivers remain focused on going up for 10 seconds.”

The system is designed to be used in the most possible emergencies to influence the UK, and warnings will be transferred by playing the doors of television, radio and locally.

The Lancaster Duke of Chancellor Pat McFadden said: “On Sunday, September 7, we will perform a test of the Emergency Warnings system to ensure that it works when we need it most.

“It is a vital tool to keep the country safe when lives are drawn – and every minute is important.

“During Storm Darragh and Storm Eowyn, as I encountered millions of dangerous excessive air, I found how effective it was to get life -saving advice to the risk -risk communities.

“We do not use the system frequently, but like a fire alarm in your home, it is always waiting for us to move.”
