ABC, SBS staff fear source safety after antisemitism RC directive

Journalists at the ABC and SBS could be putting their resources at risk under a new directive demanding staff retain all messages they send or receive in connection with matters investigated by the Royal Commission into Antisemitism and Social Cohesion.

A memo from ABC news director Justin Stevens to staff at the national broadcaster’s news department instructed staff that the National Archives of Australia (NAA) had issued “freeze disposal notices” to institutions including the ABC and SBS.
