Non-LPS Farmers Allege Coercion By APCRDA In Amaravati

Vijayawada: Farmers from the village of Mandadam in the Aaravati Capital region complained to Asia Development Bank (ADB) and the World Bank by the Development Authority (APCRDA) by the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region (APCRDA). Although they did not participate in the Black Pooling program (LPS), they said they were under pressure to evacuate their agricultural land.
According to reports, farmers claimed that APCRDA officials forcibly lifted the fences from their fields and that the land was allocated to a private hotel developer. When they tried to complain to the police station, they were broken and they were told to deliver their soil to pool.
Farmers, Apcrda’s actions in their complaints, intimidation, forcibly displacement and forcing the ADB and the World Bank protection policies violated the policies, he said. They urged institutions to intervene immediately, to investigate harassment and to ensure protection for non -LPS farmers before expanding more project support.
“We are afraid of losing our lands, livelihoods and dignity without emergency action,” he said.
