3 Indians arrested in Canada for shooting over extortion | World News

Three Indian nationals, including a teenager, have been arrested in Canada and charged in connection with multiple shootings at a residence in Surrey that were reportedly part of a robbery attempt. People accused of firearms offenses were sent to police custody until February 5.

All three were detained in the early hours of Sunday and their names and images were released on Monday as charges against them, NDTV reported.

The names of these people were stated to be 21-year-old Harjot Singh, 19-year-old Taranveer Singh and 21-year-old Dayajeet Singh Billing. Surrey Police said that since these people are foreign nationals, the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) is looking into the matter.

Just before 4 a.m. on Sunday, local police in Surrey, British Columbia, were patrolling a neighborhood when they received reports of gunshots and a small fire outside a home.

Officers from Surrey Police Service, Lower Mainland District Integrated Police Dog Service and Delta Police Department responded.

Surrey police spotted a suspicious vehicle in the area and the occupants fled on foot. A short time later, three suspects were arrested after trying to get into a shared vehicle, according to an SPS statement released on Monday.

Surrey Constabulary has appealed to the public to provide any information regarding the case, including CCTV or dashcam footage, to assist the investigation into the matter.

Just the week before, on January 26, two Indian men were arrested in a separate shooting incident in which police recovered a loaded handgun.

The two men, identified as Harshdeep Singh, 20, and Hanspreet Singh, 21, were accused of occupying a vehicle knowing the presence of a firearm, while Harshdeep also faced an additional charge for operating the vehicle.
