Football legend Roberto Carlos is hospitalised with heart surgery ‘complications’ in Brazil

Brazilian football icon Roberto Carlos was hospitalized in Sao Paulo, Brazil, due to a heart problem, and the surgery to correct the problem took more than three hours due to ‘complications’.

He was hospitalized for a heart problem in his native Brazil after undergoing medical testing for a small blood clot in his leg.

A full-body MRI reportedly revealed that his heart was not working properly and it is believed that the Brazilian legend was then immediately taken into surgery to have a catheter inserted.

According to the Spanish outlet LIKEThe procedure took 40 minutes longer than expected, with Carlos in the operating room for close to three hours.

However, the operation is thought to be successful and it is stated that Carlos is ‘out of danger’ but will be kept under observation for the next two days.

Carlos told AS through his representatives that he was ‘fine now’.

This health scare is the second health scare the 52-year-old actor is thought to have suffered in 2025 after the star was forced to postpone his planned trip to Nepal in April.

Carlos was scheduled to participate in the Nepal Super League on April 18 before it was announced that he had a ‘sudden illness’.

The visit was rescheduled with Carlos arriving in Kathmandu a few days later for the finals of the competition.

At the beginning of the year, Carlos hit the headlines with media speculation that the Real Madrid ambassador was sleeping on the training ground, amid rumors that he was preparing to divorce Mariana Lucon, his wife and the mother of two of his 11 children.

The couple married in June 2009 and share two daughters, Manuela and Mariana, and the news was paired with claims that Lucon could seek a share of his eye-popping £133 million fortune.
