TMC to Set Up Radiation Oncology Therapy Centre in Navi Mumbai

mumbai: Tata Memorial Center (TMC) will construct a new cancer care building at the Center for Advanced Cancer Treatment, Research and Education in Navi Mumbai, considered one of India’s largest radiation therapy facilities.
Financed with ICICI Bank’s CSR contribution of ₹625 crore, the facility will be among India’s largest radiation therapy centres, equipped with the latest cancer treatment technologies. In India, TMC will set up three state-of-the-art cancer care buildings at Navi Mumbai in Maharashtra, Mullanpur (New Chandigarh) in Punjab and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.
The groundbreaking ceremony and laying of the foundation stone of the building called ‘ICICI Radiation Oncology Foundation Block’ was held on Sunday. The 11-storey building, which has a ground floor and two basement floors, will be spread over an area of 3.4 lakh square metres. It will house 12 state-of-the-art Linear Accelerators (LINAC) and other advanced cancer care equipment. LINACs deliver precise radiation to cancer cells, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
The center will treat 7,200 patients annually and offer more than two lakh radiation sessions to these patients. Additionally, the block will provide OPD consultations and diagnoses to 25,000 new patients annually. It is expected to be completed by 2027.
The radiation oncology block will include a range of advanced radiation equipment for precision therapy, radiology facilities such as MRI, CT scanners, CT simulators for open and closed patients, and specialized research and training facilities for medical professionals.
Tata Memorial Center Director Dr. Sudeep Gupta said: “These facilities will provide state-of-the-art, evidence-based cancer treatment to underserved patients and will significantly expand our capacity in the coming years.
