Moment massive fire rips through multiple HGVs and trailers at docks sending plumes of smoke into the sky

This is the moment a massive fire caused thick clouds of black smoke to rise over the Port of Methil in Scotland.

Drone footage shows firefighters trying to extinguish a fire at a shipyard in Fife while trailers and trucks burst into flames.

Crews managed to extinguish the fire at 11.30am on Sunday and left the scene around 1pm.

Emergency services, including Scottish Fire and Rescue and the police, were alerted to the fire at 9.10am.

7 vehicles responded to the scene to extinguish the fire.

No injuries were reported and people were told to avoid the area at the time due to smoke levels.

Residents were asked to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.

Police said the area is now safe again and the fire is not being treated as suspicious.

No fire brigade was asked to come to the scene.

A statement from SFRS said: ‘At 9.11am we were called to reports of a fire affecting a number of heavy goods vehicles and trailers near Port Methil in Fife.

‘Operations control mobilized seven fire trucks to the scene, teams are trying to extinguish the fire.

‘There was no loss of life, the teams continue to remain at the scene.

‘Citizens are asked to stay away from the area due to the density of smoke. ‘Residents are asked to keep windows and doors closed as a precaution.’
