Lawyer who brought Hamas case claims he was unlawfully detained by police | UK news

A lawyer, who claimed that Hamas was illegally detained in accordance with the law of terrorism, contained legally privileged information for his client.

On Wednesday, Fahad Ansari, who made legal proceedings against the Minister of Interior and the Chief Officer of the North Wales Police, was stopped by civil servants in Holyhead when he returned with his wife and four children from a family holiday in Ireland on 6 August.

Ansari challenges it to detention and question it, to seize the mobile phone, and to decide to examine and examine a copy of the phone.

The reasons for the judicial examination prepared by Jude Bunting KC from Doughty Street Chambers, in accordance with the 7th schedule of the Terrorism Law, allowed forces to stop, question and detention a person at a port or border, and to refer to the fact that it has acted for a customer in the past.

Ansari said that most of the questioning was about the Palestinian action. He was also asked about Hamas, but refused to answer questions by referring to the privacy of the customer. The next day, the content of his phone was copied by the police.

Ansari, “I have never heard that the lawyers in the UK are targeted in this context because of their customers,” Ansari said. “I have discussed the usual media harassment to receive customers who think that some of them are controversial, including Hamas, which they represented in the application of the Law Office.

“Some complained that representing Hamas discredited the profession. Nevertheless, what really weakens the integrity of the profession is when non -popular customers cannot secure legal representation due to public rooster and fear of state intimidation.”

Ansari has the role of consultancy at Duncan Lewis lawyers who were previously director and director in Riverway Lawyers who act in order not to violate sanctions for Hamas Pro Bono. After the Hamas application, Shadow Interior Minister Robert Jenrick and the campaign against Antisemitism Ansari reported to Ansari (SRA).

An interview officer told him: “Many people, including my wife, think that ban is ridiculous.” He said. Ansari said, which level A received and where he socialized.

As part of the claim, Ansari is looking for an urgent temporary decision decision that prohibits the police from examining, qualifying or sharing the copy of the mobile phone, which is waiting for the solution of this claim. He says that the content of the phone is “covered with an overwhelming majority with legal privilege”.

Ansari said that he was held by the police for three hours and that he was photographed and swabed for DNA, and he told him to remove his face identity and pin from his phone or face arrest.

If the claim is successful, he said he would ask for harm for the person without permission, unauthorized entry and false imprisonment.

The Ministry of Interior and the police did not respond to requests for comments. Guardian understands that the police say they wouldn’t destroy the copy of the phone until the independent lawyer was reviewed.
