First trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s Facebook sequel The Social Reckoning | Film

The first trailer for Aaron Sorkin’s highly anticipated sequel, The Social Network, has arrived.

Social Reckoning has been described as a film that is not a “direct sequel” but will still revisit Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook.

The series is based on the Wall Street Journal series Facebook Files examined the damage caused by the social networking site and how internal findings were buried.

Zuckerberg will be played by Succession star Jeremy Strong, who was nominated for an Oscar for his performance in The Apprentice. “One of the greatest scripts I’ve ever read.” Strong said last year:. “It speaks to our time, it touches the third rail of everything going on in our world.”

In the trailer, her character prepares to testify at congress after whistleblower Frances Haugen reveals classified documents to journalist Jeff Horwitz. “I haven’t left my dorm room in two years now,” he says, describing himself as an “absolutist of free speech.”

The character was previously played by Jesse Eisenberg, who earned an Oscar nomination for his performance. When Strong was asked if he had spoken to Eisenberg, he replied that it “has nothing to do with what I’m going to do.”

Haugen will be played by Mikey Madison, who won the best actress Oscar for her performance in Sean Baker’s Anora. “I don’t want to be imitated by a man with unlimited resources,” the character says in the trailer.

Horwitz will be played by Bear star Jeremy Allen White, while the rest of the cast will be filled out by Sinners Oscar nominee Wunmi Mosaku, Bill Burr and Betty Gilpin.

“This is a true David and Goliath story,” Sorkin said about the film.

Sorkin will serve as both writer and director. Her last film was the Lucille Ball biopic Being the Ricardos, directed by Nicole Kidman.

The Social Network was a critical and commercial hit in 2010; it grossed $224 million worldwide and won three Oscars, including best adapted screenplay for Sorkin.

Social Reckoning will be released with a fall festival premiere on October 9th.
