Home Guard Stabbed to Death by Husband in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 34-year-old home security guard was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband in front of her daughter and mother following marital discord, police said on Tuesday.
They said the deceased, identified as Manjula, was working as a house guard at Mahadevapura police station here.
Police said they arrested her husband Pradeep Kumar (38), a rickshaw driver.
They said Manjula had been living separately with her two children at her parents’ house in Udayanagar for about a month due to frequent fights with her husband.
According to the police, the incident took place on Sunday evening when Kumar went to his parents’ house on the pretext of reconciling with his wife. Apparently he wanted Manjula to return home with her children but she refused.
The man allegedly fell at her feet, begging for forgiveness, and as she was caught off guard, he pulled out a knife and stabbed her multiple times.
He suffered at least eight stab wounds, including his chest and abdomen. Their 14-year-old daughter also injured her finger when she tried to intervene to save her mother, a senior police officer said.
He said Manjula was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead.
After the attack, Pradeep allegedly fled the scene and informed the police that he had killed his wife. He then attempted suicide by slitting his wrists, police said.
Investigators said the couple had been married for 15 years and argued frequently over Kumar’s addiction to betting, online gaming and alcohol, which put the family in financial trouble.
Police also said he was suspicious of his wife’s fidelity.
Hours before the incident, Kumar allegedly took selfie videos in which he said that his betting habit had ruined his family and claimed that both he and his wife would die soon.
In the videos, he also accused his mother-in-law and sister-in-law of influencing Manjula to live apart from him.
Police stated that the person was detained and later arrested, adding that the investigation was continuing.
