The Congress on Saturday, January 31, 2026, said that the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Yatra was an extremely transformative event in Indian politics, conveying three messages to the people of sharpening economic inequalities, deepening social polarization and increasing political authoritarianism.
One X Congress general secretary for communications Jairam Ramesh recalled that the Kanyakumari to Kashmir ‘padyatra’ culminated in Gandhi’s stirring speech in Srinagar three years ago.

Mr. Ramesh wrote in his post: “The 4,000 kilometer padyatra was carried out by Rahul Gandhi and over 200 Bharat Yatris on foot from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. It took over 145 days, covering 12 States and 2 UTs.”
“The yatra was a profoundly transformative event in our country’s politics, delivering to the public three messages of sharpening economic inequalities, deepening social polarization, and increasing political authoritarianism,” he wrote.
Mr. Ramesh added that it will be recalled and cherished for decades to come.
