Emphasis on indigenisation in manufacturing of defence-related products in Rajasthan

Steps are taken in Rajasthan to promote the defense industry by emphasizing indigenization in the production of defense -related products. Rajasthan’s strategic location and land usability have served as important factors in defense development and investments in the country.

The strategies of supporting defense production, which has received a share of 22.5%of the private sector, were discussed in the interaction of the Ministry of Defense with stakeholders and entrepreneurs here at the weekend. The defense aviation policy proposed by the state government was an important feature discussed at the meeting.

The intention of providing assistance to the micro, small and medium -sized enterprises (MSME) sector and accessing defense technologies developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) to private companies was transferred to representatives of approximately 20 industrial units.

‘A Showcase Event’

Entrepreneurs expressed concerns about their license and challenges and asked the Ministry of Defense to organize an exhibition in the state. If arrangements are made to test defense products, new initiatives and investments can be brought to the state.

The Ministry of Defense is working to produce local private sector capital and to create a favorable environment for private players to undertake basic production activities in strategic sectors. In Rajasthan, a solid production infrastructure for design and production and self -confidence are considered important for the department.
