The Republican Sen from Texas. Ted Cruz sharply criticized Brendan Carr, the President of the Federal Communication Commission for his comments on the host Jimmy Kimmel, shortly late at night before he pulled his show into the air.
Cruz said that Together with Carr, ABC threatened Kimmel to cancel his publication license on his statements about the death of Conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
“We can do this in the easy way or we can do it in a hard way,” the Senator said in the last episode, Carr Podcast“Decision with Ted Cruz” published on Friday morning.
“And I have to say, outside this Goodfellas,” Cruz said, referring to the classical mafia film.
“This came out of a mafia entering a bar, ‘There was a beautiful bar here, it would be embarrassing if there was something.’ ‘
“Look, I love Brendan Carr. He’s a good man, the president of that FCC. I’m working closely with him, but he said it’s as dangerous as Hell, Cruz Cruz said at another point of the episode.
Cruz’s comments contradicted President Donald Trump, who applauded Kimmel’s suspension and then called Carr as “extraordinary”.
Cruz said that Kimmel was not a fan and that he was “excited to be fired” on his comments about Kirk.
“But let me let me let us say that the media are not saying what we don’t say, if you don’t say what we love,” Cruz said, “The government will be bad for conservatives.” He said.
Kimmel, who was suspended but was not fired, said that the “Maga Gang” in the opening monologue on Monday night tried to desperate this child, who killed Charlie Kirk as something other than one of them and does everything they can to get political points. “
On Wednesday, Carr hit Kimmel for a long time during a look at the podcast of right -wing commentator Benny Johnson.
ABC said, “FCC has a license given by us and has an obligation to operate for the public interest,” he said.
“But frankly, when you see such things, that is, look, we can do it easily or difficult,” he said. “These companies can find ways to change behaviors, obviously to take action in Kimmel, or you know, there will be additional work for the next FCC.”
Hours later, ABC and Nexstar Media Group, which hosts local stations affiliated to ABC, said, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” indefinitely.
Nexstar planned in August 6.2 billion dollars of purchasing TEGNA – A merger that requires the approval of FCC.
