Three people are confirmed dead after huge fire at building in west London

London Fire Brigade has confirmed that three people have died in a fire at a building in White City, west London, tonight.

Approximately 100 firefighters and 15 fire engines responded to the blaze on New Zealand Road at 6.52pm after receiving 19 calls reporting the incident.

Three people were rescued by firefighters from the single-storey mansion, where more than half of its structure was damaged due to fire.

All three were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service paramedics. Unfortunately, two people died at the scene.

The third person was taken to hospital for further treatment but was later pronounced dead.

LAS, which dispatched an air ambulance as well as ambulance teams to the scene, treated 9 people at the scene.

Three of them were taken to a major trauma center, while four were released from the care of the crew at the scene.

Firefighters from North Kensington, Acton, Chiswick and surrounding stations brought the fire under control approximately two and a half hours later at 21.25.

‘The fire involved a single-storey pavilion and just over half of the structure was damaged by fire.

‘The three men were rescued from the building by fire crews and treated at the scene by paramedics from the London Ambulance Service.

‘Sadly two of the men were pronounced dead at the scene. The third person was taken to hospital for further treatment but was later pronounced dead.

‘The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Brigade’s specialist fire investigation officers and the Metropolitan Police Service.’

A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said: ‘We were called at 7.02pm on 20 June to reports of a fire at the junction of Commonwealth Avenue and Bloemfontein Road, W12.

‘We sent a number of resources to the scene including ambulance crews, incident responders, advanced paramedics, a command support vehicle, emergency planning officers and a paramedic from our tactical response unit. We also sent the London Air Ambulance.

‘We treated nine people at the scene. Despite all the efforts of our teams, unfortunately two injured people died at the scene.

‘We transferred three patients to a major trauma centre. ‘We also treated and discharged four patients at the scene.’

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Officers are currently supporting the London Fire Brigade following a fatal fire in West London.

‘Police were called to New Zealand Road in White City at 7.07pm on Saturday, June 20, to reports of a fire.

‘Unfortunately, two people died at the scene. A third man was also taken to hospital and sadly died. We are trying to inform his relatives.

‘Specialist Met officers are currently supporting the London Fire Brigade to investigate the circumstances around the fire.’
