Two Wounded In US Border Patrol Shooting In Portland | World News

Two people suffered non-fatal gunshot wounds during a targeted vehicle stop by the U.S. Border Patrol in Portland, Oregon, Thursday afternoon.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said that the driver tried to run over the agents with the vehicle, which resulted in a defensive shot being fired, and then the driver fled with the passenger. The passenger was determined to be a Venezuelan national living in the United States illegally and affiliated with the Tren de Aragua gang (variably defined as a prostitution ring or gang).

“U.S. Border Patrol agents were conducting a targeted vehicle stop in Portland, Oregon, at 2:19 PST. The vehicle’s occupant and target is a Venezuelan illegal alien affiliated with the transnational Tren de Aragua prostitution ring and involved in a recent shooting in Portland. The driver of the vehicle is believed to be a member of the Venezuelan evil gang Tren de Aragua. When agents identified themselves to the vehicle’s occupants, the driver armed his vehicle and attempted to run over law enforcement.” He was afraid for his life. In a post on X, DHS said, “The driver opened fire for defensive purposes. “The driver fled the scene with the passenger,” he said.

ICE Attack in South Minneapolis

The incident occurred a day after a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman during a federal immigration operation in South Minneapolis.

The shooting happened around 9:30 a.m. local time Wednesday near East 34th Street and Portland Avenue. The woman was later identified as Renee Nicole Good. Minneapolis police said he was shot in the head and was pronounced dead at a hospital.

The incident sparked a political dispute over the Trump administration’s enforcement tactics.

After watching video of the incident, Trump defended the agent in a post, calling the incident “a terrible thing to watch.” He said the woman “violently, deliberately and brutally” struck an ICE officer who “appeared to have shot her in self-defense.”

Minnesota officials disagreed. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey said he had seen video of the shooting and rejected the claim of self-defense.

These incidents come as the Department of Homeland Security says ICE is conducting its “largest ever” immigration enforcement operation, leading to escalating clashes between federal agents, local authorities and protesters in several U.S. cities.
