Epstein files reveal Andrew’s connection to second wealthy sex offender

The FBI attempted to interview Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as part of its investigation into a second wealthy sex offender, according to the latest information from the Epstein files.

Canadian businessman Peter Nygard was sentenced to 11 years in prison last year for sexually assaulting four women between the late 1980s and 2005, and was also accused of raping 14-year-old girls.

A letter to UK authorities in April 2020 requests that Andrew take part in a voluntary interview regarding both the Jeffrey Epstein and Nygard investigations; both involved sex trafficking of minors.

The FBI is talking about Andrew and his family’s 2000 visit to Nygard’s luxury Caribbean resort, which he named Nygard Cay.

“The investigation revealed that Prince Andrew traveled at least once to Nygard Cay in the Bahamas, where Nygard is believed to have trafficked underage and adult female victims,” the document states.

Authorities demanded that he share any information he had collected on Nygard and other persons of interest, but stressed that Andrew was not a target of the investigation and that there was no evidence of any wrongdoing under U.S. law.

Nygard, who once led a women’s fashion empire, was found guilty of four counts of sexual assault in November 2024, but was acquitted of the fifth count and one count of forcible confinement. The 84-year-old faces separate sexual assault and sex trafficking charges in Montreal, Winnipeg and the United States

Nygard has denied all allegations against him.

During his trial, five women testified that they met Nygard at a nightclub or on a plane and were later invited to the headquarters under various excuses, from tours to job interviews. All five women said their meetings or interactions with Nygard resulted in sexual activity to which they did not consent.

The FBI letter states: “With respect to the interview, U.S. authorities request a voluntary interview with Prince Andrew and request assistance from United Kingdom authorities in arranging such an interview. In the event the witness refuses to participate in a voluntary interview, U.S. authorities request that United Kingdom authorities compulsorily interrogate the witness under oath.”

They listed what they wanted to ask:

  • The history and nature of Prince Andrew’s relationship with Peter Nygard
  • Details of Prince Andrew’s travels with and/or visiting Nygard
  • Details of Prince Andrew’s trips to Nygard Cay, whether Nygard was there or not
  • Names and/or descriptions of women Prince Andrew met through Nygard or on Nygard Cay.

The FBI also sought information about Andrew’s relationship with pedophile financier Epstein and his partner Ghislaine Maxwell, who was sentenced to 20 years in prison for her role in enabling young girls to be abused by the billionaire.

Epstein died in his prison cell in July 2019 after his arrest, and US authorities listed the cause of death as suicide.

In requesting an interview, the document states: “In addition, documentary evidence uncovered during this investigation has revealed information indicating that Prince Andrew had knowledge that Maxwell was recruiting women to have sex with Epstein and other men.”

Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein’s sex crimes.

In one of four emails released Tuesday as part of the “Epstein files” and sent to Maxwell in August 2001 by someone called the “Invisible Man,” the sender told the now-convicted sex trafficker that his “servants” had recently died and that they had “left RN.”

Andrew had left the Royal Navy a month before the email was sent.

Another email from the same person, dated August 16, 2001, said they were at the “Balmoral Summer Camp for the Royal Family” and then asked Maxwell: “Did you find me inappropriate friends?”

A March 2002 email from Maxwell to “The Invisible Man” said they had forwarded a message to an anonymous contact, and the message began: “I gave Andrew your phone number.”

In the message Maxwell sent to the unidentified person, it was also stated that “Andrew” would be “very happy” if he achieved “bipedal vision”.

Maxwell’s message read: “He can ride horses, but that’s not his favorite sport, which is running over horses.

“Some opinions some 2-legged opinions (read smart quite fun and from good families) and he will be very happy.

I know that I can trust her to make sure you have a great time and that she will only introduce you to friends you can trust, who you can trust to be friendly, discreet, and fun.

“He doesn’t want to read about who or what he sees in the newspapers on any trip.

Photos previously released by the Ministry of Justice showed Andrew introducing Epstein to British society, including a shooting trip to Balmoral and a trip to the royal box at Ascot.

Andrew resigned from royal duties in 2019 following the disastrous Newsnight interview, but the posthumous publication of Ms Giuffre’s memoirs and the US government’s release of documents from Epstein’s estate have brought greater scrutiny to her relationship with the financier.

This led to the King officially stripping his disgraced brother of both his HRH style and the title of prince.

US politicians had criticized Andrew for his “silence” after he missed a deadline last month to respond to requests to sit down for an interview about Epstein.

He paid Ms. Giuffre, whom he claimed he had never met, millions to settle her civil sexual assault claim in 2022.
