BJP leader Prem Kumar unanimously elected Speaker of Bihar assembly

Senior BJP leader Prem Kumar was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the Bihar assembly on Tuesday, December 2, 2025.

Speaker Pro-tem Narendra Narayan Yadav informed the House that Mr. Kumar was the only candidate named for the post.

Later, following a voice vote, Mr Kumar was declared “unanimously elected”.

As per tradition, Mr. Kumar, who recently won the Gaya Town seat for a record eighth term, was accompanied by Speaker Nitish Kumar and Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav.
