Queen Elizabeth’s blistering phone call to Prince Harry about Meghan | Royal | News

One of the royal writers was Queen Elizabeth II. He claimed that Elizabeth had an angry phone call with her grandson, Prince Harry, about Meghan Markle’s spending habits. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex married in May 2018, but their time as senior royals was short-lived after they decided to step back from their roles in 2020.

Reports over the years have claimed that the Duchess was “disappointed” with Harry’s financial situation and hoped for more. His spending habits even managed to anger the late Queen, a royal writer has claimed.

Appearing on the Daily T podcast, author Robert Jobson said the late Queen was “annoyed” when Harry called her while they were having afternoon tea at 5pm, but became even angrier about her grandson’s demand for money.

Presenter Camilla Tominey said: “She (the late Queen) took a call from Harry and reportedly rolled her eyes and said ‘more money’.” Mr Jobson replied: “Yes, I think he’s had enough.”

He added that the Palace was “spending a lot of money” to support the couple.

The author said: “[Harry] Then he was saying ‘oh I never got it’ [money] – did. He received thousands of lira. Probably more than we know. “It’s quite significant, to the point where the King says, ‘I’m not a bank anymore.'”

The writer later claimed the late Queen was unimpressed by Meghan’s clothing spending during her time as a royal.

Ms. Tominey then went on to discuss how: [late] The Queen thought Meghan spent too much money on clothes”, while Mr Jobson said: “She did. But some people may criticize that too much money is spent on royal tours, as was the case when dressing for these tours in the 1940s and 1950s.

Ms Tominey then speculated: “But maybe £60,000 wouldn’t be paid for a Dior dress she wore during her 2019 tour of Morocco?”

Mr Jobson replied: “That was seen as over-the-top… like not sending the right message. After all, the Queen was always for the right message. She got it exactly right all her life.”

In 2019, the Daily Mail reported that the Duchess’ wardrobe for her and Harry’s tour of Morocco allegedly totaled £110,000.
