Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin launches scheme to honour senior citizens on behalf of temples

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Monday launched a scheme to honor senior citizen couples who are above 70 years of age and have been worshiping temples for a long time. He distributed packages containing dhoti, shirt, saree, blouse and other items, including kumkum and turmeric, to 200 couples on behalf of temples in the city.
He also inaugurated 12 residential units for officials of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department, built at a total cost of ₹ 3.40 crore. In the press release made here, it was stated that the program, in which 2,000 couples over the age of 70 will be honored every year, was announced in the Parliament within the scope of the 2025-26 budget.
Minister PK Sekarbabu and Chennai Mayor R. Priya were among those who graced the occasion.
