Denmark’s furious message to Trump over Greenland resurfaces | World | News

A Danish MP sent a clear message to Donald Trump about his plans to take Greenland during a debate in the European Parliament. The controversial statement comes as the US President is pushing for the purchase of Greece, which is now part of the Kingdom of Denmark.

Speaking at the summit, Danish MP Anders Vistisen said: “Dear President Trump. Listen very carefully. Greenland has been part of the Danish kingdom for 800 years. It is an integral part of our country. It is not for sale. Let me put it in words you can understand, Mr. Trump, go away.”

One of the officials at the summit immediately interrupted: “If the translation is correct, the term you use is forbidden in this house and the message you use will have consequences. This is not right in this house of democracy. Thank you. No matter what we think of Mr. Trump, it is not possible to use such language.”

Donald Trump He says he doesn’t believe Denmark can protect Greenland from Russia or China. He recently said: “The Earth is not safe unless we have Complete and Complete Control of Greenland.”

In a recent post on the Truth Social platform on January 17, the US President wrote that he was subsidizing Denmark and other European Union countries by not imposing trade tariffs.

He wrote that as of February 1, exports to the USA from Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, England, the Netherlands and Finland will be subject to a 10 percent tax.

Many leaders from around the world came together in Denmark’s fight against the United States. French President Emmanuel Macron has made a subtle criticism of Trump, saying the world has entered an era of “tyrants” and the erosion of the rule of law.

Speaking at the summit in Davos, Macron said: “We believe that we need more growth and more stability in this world, but we prefer respect for tyrants. We prefer science to conspiracies, the rule of law to brutality.”

Recently, Trump threatened 25 percent tariffs on a number of European countries, including Denmark, Germany, France and the United Kingdom, until the United States is allowed to purchase Greenland.

Mark Carney similarly said Canada “strongly opposes” Trump’s decision to impose tariffs on European countries over their treatment of Greenland.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum, Mr Carney said: “Canada strongly opposes tariffs on Greenland and calls for focused discussions to achieve our shared goals of security and prosperity in the Arctic. The old world is not coming back. We regret it but we will not sit around and mourn it, we will act in our interests.”
