Taiwan raids former TSMC exec’s homes in trade secrets probe

<span>STORY: Investigators raided the homes of a former top TSMC executive and seized computers after the company accused him of leaking trade secrets that his current employer, Intel, denied, Taiwan prosecutors said Thursday.</span><span>TSMC said on Tuesday that it had filed a lawsuit against former senior vice president Wei-Jen Lo in Taiwan’s Intellectual Property and Commercial Court.</span><span>:: ADJUST TV</span><span>TSMC is the world’s largest contract chip manufacturer and a major supplier to companies including Nvidia.</span><span>:: TSMC</span><span>Taiwan prosecutors’ intellectual property branch said in a statement that Lo was suspected of violating Taiwan’s National Security Law.</span><span>Lo did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.</span><span>:: Intel Corporation</span><span>Earlier on Thursday, US chipmaker Intel said in an e-mailed statement; “Based on everything we know, we have no reason to believe that the allegations regarding Mr. Lo have merit.”</span><span>During his 21-year career there, Lo helped support TSMC’s mass production of cutting-edge chips.</span><span>Before that, Lo worked at Intel for 18 years. He rejoined Intel in October after retiring from TSMC.</span>
