Take cover warning issued as ‘extremely dangerous’ tornado hits | US | News

A total of two hospitals and 19 schools are in the path of the massive, dangerous hurricane currently impacting the United States.
“A large and extremely dangerous tornado has been confirmed moving eastward over Kankakee, Illinois at 25 mph,” according to a Tornado Warning notice issued by the National Weather Service in Chicago.
The National Weather Service has declared a Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Tornado Warning now in effect for residents of southeast Kankakee County, including Aroma Park, which will remain in effect until 7:00 pm local time.
Residents were told to “take cover now” as baseball-sized hail pelted the area.
In addition to the tornado warning, a severe storm warning was also issued for the Kankakee, Bourbonnais and Bradley, Illinois areas. Hail, which may be the size of a large apple in the surrounding storm, is considered to be life-threatening.
