Talented filly heads to Wagga to try and break her maiden

Form Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker will chase an above-average prize money at Wagga by sending the talented filly Piroliz to break his maiden on Wednesday.

Baker produced Pyrolysis four times in racing and took part in each of them. He is looking for further success in the $50,000 Inglis Xtra Bonus Series Super Maiden Handicap (1000m) at Wagga. The three-year-old, ridden by Jeff Penza, is by Zoustar and is out of the mare Princess Wildfire.

“She is a quality mare and very well bred,” Baker said. “He’s a Darby Racehorse and I’ve had a lot of success for Darby and I’m hoping Pyrolysis can get an overdue win at Wagga.

“He made a few starts in June and July and was placed first at Gosford and then at Warwick Farm. He looked good winning trials at Canterbury when he was a second behind Ernaux and narrowly trailed.

“Then he backed that up with another second at Gosford after a handy second in the Sequista. The prize money is good at Wagga, good incentive to go there with him.”

Baker will send a traveling companion to Wagga with Pyrolysis in the form of One Run Won, ridden by Olivia Chambers in the Case Dyeing and Decorating Class 1 Handicap (1200m).

One Run Won had won two trials before debuting fourth when beaten by just 1.5 lengths at Kembla Grange. The son of Exceed And Excel then went to Orange and broke his maiden by more than four lengths as the $1.30 favorite just over two weeks ago.

“One Run Won is another talented three-year-old who performed well on debut and lived up to our expectations for a win at Orange on second start,” Baker said.

“He is stepping into a Class 1 company in Wagga and I am confident he has the talent to sustain the business.”

The marquee event at Wagga’s Christmas Eve meeting is the $40,000 Murrumbidgee Turf Club Ted Ryder Cup (1600m) featuring Danielle Seib’s last start winner Associate.
