Elderly woman burnt alive at home in Ongole; police suspect absconding son

An elderly woman was reportedly burnt alive at her home in Ongole’s Gaddalagunta in the early hours of Tuesday morning, April 14, 2026. Police suspect that his escaped son was behind the incident.
According to police, the woman, identified as Venkata Ramanamma (65), was living in an old house opposite Shri Ram Temple along with her son Venkata Kishore. His other son, Venkata Narayana, works as a software engineer in Chennai. Around 5 am, Venkata Kishore rushed out shouting that their house was on fire. The fire was brought under control with the help of fire personnel. However, when the surrounding people informed the fire department, it was understood that the woman was already dead.
