Rae had originally pleaded not guilty in May to charges of having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old boy in October 2024, possession of child abuse material, grooming a child for unlawful sexual activity and committing an act with the intention of perverting the course of justice.

She was granted bail in June after telling the court that she was pregnant, ABC reported. This after her previous bail application had been denied.

Court presented with social media messages

The court heard that the incidents occurred in the suburbs of Newcastle, which is about 160 kilometres north of Sydney.

Court records show that Rae messaged the boy on the Snapchat and Instagram social media platforms, ABC reported, with an agreed statement of facts highlighting some of their conversations.

One of Rae’s messages said, via ABC: “Hey, sorry for removing you on Snap. I found it too tempting for now.”

When the teen asked a few messages later about whether they should “remove each other now,” Rae replied by messaging, “It’s my fault. I take full responsibility. Do what you want/need.”

Rae also suggested one last meeting in another message, ABC reported.

The police statement presented to court said the boy’s cousin witnessed their exchanges on Instagram and told his parents, who then approached cops, according to ABC.

Court records show that Rae said she didn’t know the boy’s age when she was arrested by police, telling officers: “I thought he was of age … and leaving school.”

Rae, who was supposed to stand trial in August 2026, faces a sentencing hearing on March 25 with Judge Roy Ellis ordering that a sentencing assessment report be done by then, ABC reported.

Rae is still out on bail ahead of that hearing.
