Ted Lasso actor signs with US pro football team

35-year-old Mexican actor Cristo Fernández moved from playing professional football on fictional television to real life after signing a contract with an American football club.

Fernández, who plays Dani Rojas in the popular TV series Ted Lasso, signed a contract with El Paso Locomotive FC, the USL Championship team, the second highest league in the USA.

He told the BBC that playing professional football was “a dream come true” and that Ted Lasso’s popular slogan “football is life” was his own invention.
