Ted Powell gifts $100m to Murdoch University

A Perth -based businessman donated 100 million dollars to overhaul the facility of Murdoch University’s veterinary school.

Murdoch University announced today that the donation of businessman and philanthropist Ted Powell was the biggest donation by a Western Australian University.

The university will replace a 9,600 square meter veterinary school facility, which will support a 50 percent increase in donations of 100 million dollars.

Mr. Powell and his late wife Dee founded the Ragdoll Foundation, an organization of long -term supporters of Murdoch University.

“There are many good reasons in the field of medicine, and I encourage everyone who is financially good for valuable reasons, P said Powell.

“I am absolutely pleased that this gift will support the redevelopment of the veterinary school.

Murdoch University Vice President Andrew Deeks said that a new school would be the first part of a gradual project to raise the animal hospital and renew existing buildings.

“The new facility will improve the safety and prosperity of staff, students and animals – and will also provide a higher quality service for agricultural and science community and wider WA community.”

“Development also strengthens the research on animal health and the university’s only health agenda – recognizing connections between human, animal and environmental health, expanding biomedical research collaborations and attracts high -caliber academics, students and other animal experts.

“Western Australia will leave a legacy for veterinary profession, animal research and large and small animals, which will echo for future generations.”

The project also includes building a new protection and life zone at the university.
