Teen killed after horror early-morning fatal crash

A teenager who was allegedly behind the wheel of a vehicle involved in a fatal early-morning crash that killed a 17-year-old boy in Geelong on Sunday has been charged with serious driving offences.

Emergency services attended the scene at around 2am after a Mazda sedan crashed into a pole on School Road in Corio.

The 17-year-old Geelong teenager, who was the front passenger of the car, died at the scene despite all efforts to save his life.

The boy has since been identified as “JJ.”

“Your life was a blessing, your memory will be a blessing,” the boy’s family said in a statement, 7News reported.

“We will keep you close to our hearts forever.”

Allegedly, medical teams attended to the driver and a passenger sitting in the backseat.

On Sunday, Victoria police charged the 16-year-old boy who was allegedly driving at the time with a number of charges, including culpable driving and dangerous driving causing death.

Police launched an investigation into the cause of the accident

Police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage to contact CrimeStoppers.
