Teenage boy ‘fighting for life’ after shooting in Sheffield

South Yorkshire Police have announced that a young boy’s life is in danger after a shooting in Sheffield.

According to police, officers were called to reports of a shooting on London Road at around 5.17pm on Monday.

A 16-year-old boy was taken to the hospital after being found with injuries consistent with a gunshot wound.

Detective Chief Inspector Emma Knight said investigations were continuing to find those responsible.

“This is a horrific incident that left a child fighting for his life, and I know those in our community will be deeply concerned,” he said.

“I want to reassure residents that a dedicated team of officers and staff are working tirelessly to understand the circumstances leading to this attack and find those responsible. “We need you to work with us and provide any information you have. “This is unacceptable on our streets, so we must work together to stop it.

Police said London Road was closed from the junction at Sitwell Place to the junction at Crowther Place and officers were investigating and disruption was expected until Tuesday morning.
