‘We appreciate all the support and messages, but we need time right now to manage this together.’

Detective Superintendent James Dowler previously said: ‘This investigation has progressed very quickly and the community will be aware of the significant police presence in the Millbay area as our inquiries progress throughout the day. This will continue in the coming days.

‘Formal identification has not yet taken place, but our thoughts are with Drew’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

‘I would ask people to refrain from speculating about this case; We are in the early stages of our investigation to establish the full circumstances and online speculation in particular is not helpful.

‘Anyone with information that could assist the police investigation is asked to please get in touch and report it.

‘We are particularly interested in anyone who may have been in the Millbay area in the early hours of Saturday 24 January between 1am and 4am.’
