Teenager arrested after death of 13-year-old girl in Huddersfield

A 16 -year -old child was arrested on suspicion of murder and rape after the death of a 13 -year -old girl in Huddersfield.

He was called by the ambulance service to an apartment on the Sheepridge Road after 23:30 on Monday to inform the girl that the girl was unresponsive. He was taken to the hospital where he died in the early hours of Tuesday.

Western Yorkshire police said that the child arrested from Huddersfield was detained.

He was also arrested on suspicion of rape about a 16 -year -old girl from a separate incident elsewhere in Kirklees.

A post -mortem investigation on Wednesday found that the death of the girl was not explained in waiting for further investigation.

Det Ch Insp Stacey Atkinson, a murder and great investigation team, said: “Post -death death could not determine how he died, and we continue to act as if he hasn’t been explained at the moment.

“These investigations are complex and take a long time to fully understand the conditions of the death of the girl.

“Specially trained civil servants are currently supporting their family.”
