Teenager charged with possessing child exploitation material
A teenage boy has been charged with possessing violent extremist material months after he was arrested for other offences.
The 15-year-old Gold Coast boy was arrested on September 8 on charges of torture and indecent treatment.
On February 28, he was charged with one count of possession of child abuse material and one count of possession of violent extremist material.
The boy was granted bail and is expected to appear in Southport Children’s Court on March 25.
Police urged the public to report hate crimes and serious defamation.
“Everyone in Queensland has the right to feel safe and not to be threatened or victimised,” said Detective Inspector Chris Ahearn, South East Regional Crime Coordinator.
“The Queensland Police Service is well placed to monitor and assess individuals and groups who may pose a threat to the safety and security of all Queenslanders.”
