Trump was speaking to reporters at the White House and was asked how long he was willing to wait for a response from Iran on a peace deal.
“Don’t rush me,” he said, before attacking journalists who questioned US war plans.
“You know, guys like you want to say, oh, so we were in Vietnam for 18 years. We were in Iraq for many, many years… We were in World War II for four and a half, almost five years. We were in the Korean War for seven years. I’ve been doing this for six weeks and we [saying] Their army was completely defeated,” Trump said.
He reiterated his claim since the first week of the war that the military operation would be completed “very quickly”.
“I don’t want to put such a timetable on it, but it will progress quite quickly and we will have opened the strait now.”
