Telangana Food Safety department conducted a series of inspections targeting meat establishments and drinking water units across the state on April 1 as part of its ongoing enforcement drive.
According to officials, a total of 68 inspections were carried out within the scope of the meat drive across the state. During these controls, 33 samples were collected for analysis and 56 notices were issued to food operators due to various violations. Authorities seized approximately 146 kg of tainted or unsuitable meat; The largest seizure was in Nalgonda district with 110 kg.
Officials noted several deficiencies in food safety practices, including unhygienic conditions in cold storage equipment and failure to implement standard inventory systems such as First In, First Out and First Expired, First Out. Remediation notices have been issued under the Food Safety and Standards Act for hygiene-related breaches. The ministry has also taken strict action against organizations found operating without valid licences.
