Telangana Forest Dept to Upgrade Animal Trap Cages

The forest department will soon introduce the redesigned trap cages aimed at preventing the injury of wild animals caught in cases of human-wildlife conflict. The decision follows a leopard case caught in Veerannanet in the Mahbnagar region and has had a major face abrasion while trying to escape from the iron cage.
Leopard, who was arrested on September 15 after a three -month effort, is under treatment and observation in Nehru Zoology Park. After being declared completely appropriate, it will be left in a suitable forest area that will not conflict with people.
Chief Wildlife Manager Meru said that all existing trap cages will be raised and new ones will be purchased when necessary. The new design takes its place with the smooth fiberglass covering of the iron bars and the net, making the cages light but strong, preventing animals from injuring themselves while struggling to be free.
In the meantime, Nehru Zoology Park Deputy Director and Veterinary President Dr Ma Hakeem, leopard’s abrasion healed, he said. Uz We use a pump to spray an antiseptic on the wound without putting the animal in a squeezing cage, which reduces stress. After spraying, we take another antiseptic powder to stick the area to the moist area created by Spray. This method worked and the leopard’s wound healed, ”he said.
The animal remains under observation and added that it would be released to the wild nature after the displacement is terminated.
