Telangana HC Refuses To Postpone APP Exam

Hyderabad: A division bench of the Telangana High Court on Thursday refused to interfere with the schedule of assistant public prosecutor (APP) exam and turned down the plea of a group of lawyers seeking postponement of the exam on the grounds that it coincides with gram panchayat elections. The petitioners alleged that the APP exam scheduled for December 14 would deter them from exercising their right to vote in the sarpanch elections to be held on the same day.
The matter came up before the bench comprising Justice P. Sam Koshy and Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao. The bench refused to grant any interim relief or stay the conduct of the examination, observing that the court cannot lightly interfere with the recruitment timelines set in motion. The bench stated that matters related to planning and logistical arrangements fall within the administrative purview of the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB).
Directing the petitioners to make representations to the Recruitment Board, the Court directed the authorities to properly consider their requests in accordance with the law and take appropriate decision as soon as possible.
