Urgent food recall issued of popular snack over health fears – ‘do not eat it’ | UK | News

A popular supermarket snack product has been recalled for a “possible health risk” due to a misprint on its label. Plant-based brand BU has urged customers with wheat or soy allergies or intolerances to return products from its BU Isn’t Chicken Deli range. An alert from the Food Standards Agency (FSA) warned that the range “contains undeclared soya and wheat, which poses a possible health risk for anyone with allergies or intolerances or celiac disease.”
Supermarkets selling the range will also display point-of-sale notices informing customers of the “precautionary recall”. “During production, a batch of THIS Not Chicken Deli Bites was improperly packaged with basic labels designed for our THIS Cocktail Sausages,” the statement read.
“Please check the website for the correct ingredient list,” he continued. “The safety of our customers is always our first priority.”
Affected products weigh 120 grams and have expiration dates of January 29, January 30, January 31, February 2, February 3, February 4, February 5, February 6, February 6, February 12, and February 13.
In the notification, customers who purchased products from the affected line were urged to “please do not eat.”
“Instead, check to see if you purchased THIS Are Not Chicken Deli Cuts with affected expiration dates,” he said.
“You can do this by taking a photo of the notice or writing down the expiration dates for home reference.
“[Then] Return the affected product to the store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.”
Alongside the recall, the FSA issued an allergy alert after the mislabelling incident was revealed; This is a procedure in which “foods must be withdrawn or recalled because the allergy label is missing or incorrect, or because there is a risk of any other food allergy.”
