Ten Injured, Nine Critical After Mass Stabbing On Train In Cambridgeshire

British Transport Police (BTP) say at least ten people have been injured, nine of them critically, following a mass stabbing on a train in Cambridgeshire, east England.
The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, led authorities to declare a major incident. While two suspects were arrested, Anti-Terrorism Police teams are assisting the investigation.
“Ten people were taken to hospital following multiple stabbings on a train in Cambridgeshire. Nine people are believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries. A major incident has been declared and Counter Terrorism Police are supporting our investigation,” BTP said in a statement to X.

According to police, the attack took place at 18.25 local time on the way from Doncaster to London King’s Cross. Officers and emergency services responded quickly after the train was stopped at Huntingdon station.
“We are currently attending an incident where several passengers were stabbed on a train to Huntingdon. Officers are at the scene with Cambridgeshire Police and two people have been detained. Further updates will follow,” BTP added.
BTP Superintendent Chris Casey described the attack as “extremely shocking” and said his thoughts were with the victims and their families. He noted that the investigation is in its early stages and cautioned against speculation.
While police operations continue in the region, the roads are cordoned off. Train services in the region were stopped as the officers continued their work.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer described the attack as “appalling”, expressed concern for those affected and expressed gratitude to emergency responders. Home Affairs Minister Shabana Mahmood also said she was “deeply saddened” and confirmed she was receiving regular updates on the investigation.
Authorities urged the public to avoid the area and rely on official updates as investigations continue.
