Ten years without mosquito Nets, Anakapalle Tribal Voices Rise

Visakhapatnam: Kotnabelli village, located near Samalamma Hill in Ravikamatham mandal of Anakapalle district, is preparing for a protest on November 2 demanding immediate distribution of mosquito nets. The village of approximately 500 residents has reportedly not been provided with mosquito nets for ten years, despite repeated requests.
“We approached the Kothakota health officer two months ago,” said villager Singarapuvalasayya. “But no net has been provided. Without protection, we are fighting diseases like malaria and cannot afford to spend thousands on specialized treatment.”
Villagers expressed disappointment over the unequal distribution among tribal settlements. “Other villages were given nets, but not us,” Padi Bannayya said. “We did nothing wrong. If the nets are not dismantled immediately, we will appeal to the village secretariat.”
According to party leader K. Govinda Rao, the protest is expected to be supported by CPI-M.
