The U.S. Senate on Tuesday unanimously approved a bipartisan, House-backed bill that would require the Justice Department to publicly release the entire “Epstein Files,” CNN reported. With the Senate’s green light, the measure now goes directly to President Donald Trump, who has already promised to sign it into law.
Earlier the same day, the House of Representatives also passed the bill with overwhelming support, 427 to 1. The only dissenting vote came from Republican Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana. While the legislation received strong bipartisan support, lawmakers argued that full transparency was necessary for the public and vital for survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse.
Republican Reps. Thomas Massie and Marjorie Taylor Greene held a news conference on Capitol Hill, urging lawmakers to support the measure. Some of the survivors also shared their experiences and emphasized why the release of the files was delayed so long.

President Trump, who has unusually agreed with both parties on the issue, publicly encouraged Congress to act quickly and promised to sign the bill once it reaches his desk. But Democratic Representative Robert Garcia criticized the administration for not releasing the documents sooner, noting that the president already has the authority to make the documents public without waiting for congressional action.
“I would also like to remind the President that he has the authority to release the files today. He has the authority to release the files without a vote,” Garcia said at the press conference, according to CNN.
The House vote comes at a time when the nation’s focus is split between demands for transparency and the broader political climate as the Epstein case continues to unfold.
Who is Jeffrey Epstein?
Jeffrey Epstein was a wealthy financier and convicted sex offender who operated an extensive network trafficking underage girls.
