Police were called to a non-suspicious sudden death incident at Mount Ommaney, south-west of Brisbane, at around 9.50am.
“Police investigations into this matter are continuing,” the spokesman said.
Leavers became the first Cross-Border Commissioner to be tasked with supporting cross-border communities in Queensland in August last year.
The Australian Police Federation previously described Leavers as a “champion of ensuring a safe working environment for police and the community”.
“As president of the Queensland Police Association, Ian heralded a new era for policing and this is evidenced by his proactive approach to developing law and order policy. He has redefined the role and involvement of the police in public debate, debate and discourse,” the federation wrote.
More to come.
