Newt Gingrich’s ‘Gaslighting’ Spin On Trump Speech Has Critics Saying ‘OMFG’
Critics on Wednesday wondered whether the former Speaker of the House was. Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) saw President Donald Trump give the same speech everyone else was giving.

“Watching a disciplined 19-minute speech from President Trump that covers many noteworthy facts [former President] Ronald Reagan,” Gingrich gushed.
Trump’s longtime ally continued, fawning: “That was a good speech. It was an important speech.” “One day people will say this was one of the most important speeches of his career because it set the table for the whole debate for the next year and laid out what he was going to do. [former President Joe] “What Biden has done to make the country a disaster, what Trump has already done, and generally where we’re headed and why it’s the right direction.”
“I think this is a very, very important conversation,” he added.
Gingrich later called Trump “one of the most important presidents ever” and said that if the 2026 midterm elections go well for Republicans, he could soon “rival the three or four best presidents in American history.”
He concluded: “I believe President Trump demonstrated tonight that he is prepared to focus, be disciplined, and communicate, and if I were a Democrat, he would make me very angry tonight.”
