Texans warned not to eat Great Value dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets from Walmart

The Texas Department of State Health Services is warning consumers not to eat Great Value brand frozen dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets because they may contain high levels of lead.

The affected product, sold in 29-ounce bags with an expiration date of February 10, 2027, was distributed through Walmart stores nationwide. The warning follows a public health alert issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture on Wednesday.

Routine public health samples detected potentially harmful levels of lead in the product, according to the alert. Authorities emphasized that there is no safe level of lead in the food. Exposure poses the greatest risk to children under age six and women who are pregnant or may become pregnant.

The affected packages have been removed from store shelves, but officials warned that consumers may still have them at home. Anyone who has the product should not eat it, but should either throw it away or return it to the place where it was purchased.

According to the USDA, affected packages are marked with an expiration date of “FEBRUARY 10, 2027,” batch code “0416DPO1215” and establishment number “P44164.”

Health officials encourage consumers to stay informed about food safety alerts and recalls through state and federal sources.
