Texas AG opens probe into US Tennis Association over possible transgender participation

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has launched an investigation into the U.S. Tennis Association Texas League for possible violations of state law banning biological males from competing in women’s sports.
The investigation comes as Republicans are pushing nationally to restrict transgender participation in women’s athletics, arguing it is necessary to protect fairness and safety in competition.
“We will defeat the radical left who is obsessed with crushing the dreams of so many girls by allowing men to compete with women in sports,” Paxton said in a statement. he said.

Paxton’s office filed a Civil Investigative Demand (CID) with the USTA Texas League seeking documents and policies regarding transgender athlete participation. The attorney general’s office said it wants to determine whether the organization’s practices violate the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act or other consumer protection laws.
“If the USTA is allowing biological males to play in women’s matches and misleading players about who they are competing with, my office will take all necessary action within our power to defend Texas women and girls,” she continued.

CID is requesting details about how players were informed about “delusional males competing under the guise of calling themselves ‘transgender’ competitors,” according to Paxton’s office.
The USTA sued Paxton’s office, challenging the CID and its underlying claims.

Earlier this year, Paxton sued the NCAA over its transgender eligibility policy that allows biological men to train but not compete with women’s teams. He accused the association of failing to fully comply with President Donald Trump’s executive order banning biological males from competing in women’s sports.

Paxton’s aggressive legal campaign against transgender inclusion in women’s athletics has also targeted the U.S. Swimming Masters and local school boards as part of a broader effort by Republicans to tighten enforcement of Texas’ gender-specific athletics laws.
