Tom Voyce was nearly three times over drink-drive limit when he drowned, inquest hears
When he heard an investigation, an old British rugby player had about three times the driving limit when he drowned while drowning while trying to cross a 4×4 turntable during a storm.
Tom Voyce died in December trying to cross Northumberland’s Aln River in Toyota Hilux.

His 43 -year -old body was found in deep water days after a big search.
An investigation in County Hall in Morpeth heard that Mr. Voyce was shooting at the farm of his brother -in -law on 7 December 2024, and then spent with him in the King’s head pub on the evening.
Mr. Voyce’s widow’s wife Anna’s brother Hugh Wood, the last brother -in -law at 23.45, he said.

Mr. Wood estimated that the distance to Voyces’ home in Alnwick was about eight miles.
Mrs. Voyce lifted the alarm the next day when her husband could not come home.

Pathologist Dr Clive Bloxham said the cause of death was immersed in the water.
He said that there is no sign of external or internal damage and that Mr. Voyce was a “well -built, muscular man”.
“However, high blood had alcohol levels, Dr Dr Bloxham said.
215 milligrams of alcohol was detected per 100 milliliters of blood. The beverage provocation limit is 80 milligrams.
“These more than two and a half, about three times more, Dr said Dr Bloxham.

Detective Officer Victoria Henderson, who pioneered the police investigation, said the accident inspectors showed that a portion of the Hilux plate of Hilux was broken on the water and that the vehicle was quickly approaching Abberwick Ford.

Mr. Voyce started his senior play career in Bath, then spent six years with WASPS, which he helped them win Europe and domestic championships before going to joining Gloucester in 2009.
He won nine caps for the UK and made a 220 Premiership match before he retired in May 2013.
